Prince George’s Sip & See

The future King of England was born on July 22, 2013, we had to celebrate!  My older daughter completed her Girl Scout Gold Award in the midst of the Royal baby fever.  She set out to improve the daily lives of disabled children who have been removed from their abusive parents, and are being cared for by Respite Care of San Antonio until they can be properly placed in a loving home.  (read her Gold Award blog for more on her project)  An extension of what she did at the Respite Care facility was planning and hosting a Sip & See for Prince George, asking guests to bring diapers for all of the princes and princesses at Respite Care of San Antonio.  She raised 2000 diapers in two hours!

Needless to say, we had a wonderful time planning, gathering, and transforming our home into a Royal Tea party fit for a future King.  Guests were greeted at the door with a wreath of silver picture frames holding a variety of photos of the Royal family.  (I now hang the wreath on the inside of the door with photos of our family.  And, yes, I saved the Royal photos for another Royal Sip and See!)

To top it all off, Her Majesty, The Queen responded (via her secretary) in gratitude for how we honoured Prince George.  See the letter!

Upon entering the house, guests were then greeted by bigger photos of some of the Royals….

As our guests moved into our home more pictures could be found of the Royals amongst (well, mostly replacing) our own family photos!

We even had a Memorial to Princess Diana, courtesy of my dear friend, Lady Eleanor.

Because the Sip & See was held in August, we served a cold tea punch, and several sweet and savory treats…all properly executed by our butler, to whom I am married:)

Because all good things must come to an end, as guests departed the regal celebration, they were given a Royal party favor of homemade grape jelly (from our royal grapevine), Queen Elizabeth II’s scone recipe, and information on my daughter’s Gold Award project.  The favors were nestled in two of my girls’ baby doll carriages.

The diapers grew into quite a Royal hill during the tea!
