Royal Letters

After my daughter completed her Girl Scout Gold Award, which included a Royal Sip & See for Prince George, I thought Her Majesty should know how he was honoured in our style and philanthropy.  See my page “Prince George’s Sip & See” for details and photos.

I wrote a letter to Her Majesty’s secretary.  Also included with the letter was a Shutterfly photobook which chronicled the entire event.  Within three weeks we received a letter from Buckingham Palace!!  Here it is:

Of course I sent a letter and photo book to the secretary to Prince William!  You will certainly find out if we hear from Kensington Palace.

I wish I had taken a picture of the letter I sent to the secretaries to The Queen, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.  It is proper to address their secretaries, and only those who know them personally may address them directly.  As a matter of utmost respect for Her Majesty’s secretary, I used my very best paper with my copper colored monogram engraved at the top.  The gift of the letter is rapidly being replaced with the virtual gift of an intangible email.  Although it is the sentiment expressed that truly matters, I feel more and more touched by a sentiment expressed to me on paper.  Experiencing a swift reply from The Queen of England, one much busier than I, reminds me that there is no excuse for a late response to an invitation, a congratulation, or and adoration!

We also received a letter and photo of the Prince George and his parents acknowledging our efforts for the babies at Respite Care San Antonio in His Royal Highness’ honour.  I am touched that they were touched by our expression of excitement for his birth, and passion for children in need.  What a blessing the Royal family has been to our family in this time of rejoicing for the birth of a future king!
