Living Royally Today will provide you with a variety of practical ways to take your daily habits, thoughts, prayers, studies, events, fashion, travel and family life to a royal level. My definition of Royal is historically and Biblically based. Historically, monarchies existed to provide order and a framework for society and its economic and societal culture. Someone had to be in charge, and as the saying goes, “it is good to be Queen!” Biblically, God is the Father of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings. As a Christian, I am a child of God, apart of His Son’s Royal family, and therefore Royal. That is the short family tree explanation! Tying these two contexts together, Queen Elizabeth II is Britain’s Sovereign, and head of the Church of England. For me, in Living Royally, I nod to Queen Elizabeth II as a person of order, high standards, respect, and most importantly, submitting to God as one of His instruments designed to glorify God. Afterall, God uses imagery of the monarchy throughout the Bible to describe His kingdom, His Son, the King of Kings, and our place in this heavenly realm.
How do I attempt to apply Queen Elizabeth II to how I act each day? No, I do not put a tiara on each morning expecting great service all day long. But, I do change my ordinary routine to something that keeps our “order”, while raising the standards of a routine, and demonstrating great respect for those around me. For example, I can change my original plan for the day to make sure my teenagers have my full attention after school in a way that kicks up snack time with afternoon tea served with a lovely teapot and china cups and saucers. This surprise of extra effort on my part tends to not only bring a smile to their faces, but it opens up their mouths to tell me all sorts of things I want to know about their day, their friends, and their growing lives. In other words, it is a great way to get scoop from them, AND respect them at the same time! Win-Win.
My eyes are open to all sorts of ways to be Royal (glorify God)! As a theme for living, it will come out of our mouths, our closets, our kitchens, our suitcases, our homes, our gardens, and our actions. Let’s apply Living Royally Today!
Cheers!

I enjoy the beauty of God’s creation, relating to those God created in His image, and am passionate about His call to each of us. Because God is so personal, His call is equally personal. In the Living Royally Today adventure I hope to illustrate how each of us can glorify God through our daily grind, pointing to Him, even in our Kate inspired nude colored heels, in our words and actions. The seeds of kindness, graciousness, order, respect, and high standards may be the seeds that are planted in the most unsuspecting of people in our midst! You do not need to see the flower bloom, just plant the seed.
